Online Premiere: Tapi! at the We Are One Global Film Festival!

We are very excited that our latest short film project—Tapi!—is part of the exciting line-up of films that form part of the We Are One Global Film Festival - an unprecedented 10 day-long online extravaganza of film offerings from all over the world, brought FREE to home and mobile screens by a consortium of the world’s leading film festivals via Youtube. Our short, Tapi!, was programmed as part of the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s curated list - following its world premiere at the 2020 edition of the festival, and will be seen here for the very first time online!

“Tapi!” - created and presented by the Nest Collective - is a short docufiction film about a formative moment in the life of a young ritual healer, Jackson, one of the last surviving practitioners of the healing ritual, “utapishi”. Jackson faces off with local church movements who are determined to erase this practice one and for all, alongside its complex history and context. Written and directed by Jim Chuchu. Created and Produced by the Nest Collective. Tapi! has its world premiere at the 2020 International Film Festival Rotterdam, and the global digital film festival We Are One. Find out more at:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and all the measures put in place to contain its spread, especially social distancing, film showcases in physical arenas have had to really rethink how to keep connections with their audiences, who cannot gather like they used to at cinemas and other screening venues. The arts have also been a great comfort to the citizens of the world, at this time of isolation, fear and uncertainty: many have increased their consumption of cultural pieces to find a moment of comfort, understanding or brief escape. Cultural producers and distributors, in their turn, have been finding ways to avail the public with wider access to more types and genres of work.

Watch Tapi! here at 3.15PM, Wednesday, 3rd June 2020 East African Time and all through to 9th June, and do let us know your thoughts in the comments and/or on our socials!
