The What Design Can Do Clean Energy Challenge - Nairobi Edition!
Each city will be tackling a different aspect of clean energy – Mexico City’s tackling waste, Delhi’s working on building, São Paulo’s figuring out transport and Amsterdam is working on clean cityscapes. In Nairobi the focus is on re-thinking the entire food supply chain to conserve energy along it in any and every possible way, including:
- are there clean, green, innovative ways that we can use to plant, grow and access food in the city, transport it, prepare it or deal with food waste?
- Are there interesting campaigns we can come up with that help people visualize new knowledge, attitudes and practices around preparing food differently, eating new types of food, dealing differently with food waste, exploring new ways to store food and increasing food distribution to more people in the city?
What Design Can Do are looking for bold, bright, innovative ideas in 3 tracks: student, startup and creative professional – to cover all these and more areas in regards to the food supply chain using clean energy solutions and energy conservation in Nairobi!
The deadline for applying is the 5th of December 2018. Selected ideas will then be further improved, developed, and re-entered into the competition for the final pitch. Overall winner selections will be held in Mexico City in March 2019! Winners will enter into a year-long acceleration process to develop their idea for market investment, working with the incredible team at What Design Can Do, and win up to 10,000 euro to help that process!
We would love to see Nairobi take several prizes, and in order for that to happen we need you! Apply today and share your beautiful, bold ideas on how to change how the city interacts with food, with Nairobi, Kenya and the world!
