Digital Transformation and Cultural Heritage in the Global South: Dr. Njoki Ngumi in Conversation
Our very own Dr. Njoki Ngumi was one of the panelists for the Fakugesi Online Festival 2020 discussion titled ‘Digital Transformation and Cultural Heritage in the Global South’, alongside Indonesia’s Lisistrata Lusandiana (the executive director of the Indonesia Visual Art Archive) and Brazil’s Cristiana Selveira Serejo (the vice director of the Museu Nacional UFRJ in Rio de Janeiro).
Developed in extension to the HackUrCulture project, this international panel was moderated by Medhavi Gandhi from Heritage Lab India. Their dynamic discussion explored the importances of making artistic and cultural archives digital and publicly accessible, the challenges GLAM institutions in the global South are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the different ways museums and cultural institutions have been using, and can continue to use, their data and archives to align and deeply engage with their audiences online!
