The Nest Collective at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival

In partnership with the Goethe-Institut in Nairobi, we are thrilled to be presenting some of our work at the upcoming Oberhausen International Short Film Festival - one of the oldest short film festivals in the world, now in its 66th edition! Our presence at the festival is as part of a new cooperation between them and the Goethe Institut. Their first partner in this program is the Goethe-Institut Nairobi, and we are super proud to be selected to present our work, practice and the society we operate from.

As part of our presentations, our very own Noel Kasyoka will present an epic 90-minute DJ set as part of the #DJsOnTheNet program on the 14th of May at 10pm CET (11pm EAT). In addition, our two web series “Tuko Macho” and “We Need Prayers” will be presented in full alongside conversations with our very own Dr. Akati Khasiani and Jim Chuchu who will refer to these works as part of a wider conversation about class and social conflicts in Kenya, and the space for feminist and queer thought, expression and action both in Kenya, and in particular as part of the collective’s practice.

Tuko Macho is presented at 8pm CET (9pm EAT) on Saturday the 16th, and We Need Prayers is presented on Sunday 17th May at 8pm CET (9pm EAT). Festival tickets are available at the festival hub (350 films for one festival pass at 9.99 EUR!), and more on our engagement in the festival here.
